Hello fellow adventurers!
We are stoked to meet you.

Hey there! I’m Maddie Mae. I’m a elopement-obsessed adventure wedding photographer. I believe that eloping is the BEST way to get have a truly meaningful, intimate wedding day, and I love empowering couples to make the brave choice to have a wedding day that truly reflects them.

I grew up in Colorado—so the mountains will always be where I feel the most at home. Camping, hiking and backpacking have been an integral part of my life since I was young and I am most myself being in nature.  I believe the most fulfilling way to live life is outside of your comfort zone and have climbed 14,000 ft mountains, snowshoed up glaciers, waded neck-deep in freezing rivers, been “hot dropped” off a helicopter, and flown Europe, Africa, Central & South America, photograph elopements.

By the end of 2018 my business will have photographed 84 adventure elopements & intimate weddings this year, and I’ve photographed couples in 13 countries so far.  Exploring is in my blood.

  • I attribute a lot of my ability to run a successful business to having a business degree and being a total marketing NERD—studying Marketing in college gave me the tools I needed to create my elopement-focused brand, and figure out how to find adventurous couples who wanted to have outdoor elopements.

  • My husband is from Scotland (we eloped too!) and we have traveled to a combined total of over 80 countries—we love “travel hacking” our international trips (a fave workshop topic!)—so most of that travel is extremely inexpensive or cost-neutral.

  • I’m bilingual, scuba certified and wilderness CPR certified. One of my "bucketlist" items is to photograph an elopement 100 ft underwater.

  • The love of my life will always be my fluffy little caramel-colored mini goldendoodle named "Fionn." He looks like a real life teddy bear but is actually a badass who climbs mountains with me.

Abbi Hearne

Hey fam! I’m Abbi. I am an adventurer first and photographer second, living on the road full time with my husband Callen and our dog Charlie in a giant gray monster truck.

Together we make up The Hearnes Adventure Photography and we travel all over shooting elopements and intimate weddings in epic places. We’re really drawn to wild deserts, steep mountains, and I have a thing for glaciers + icebergs. Our favorite places are southern Utah, Yosemite National Park, Alaska, and Patagonia (the region in South America, although I love the clothing brand as well...). We grew up in Texas and started our business there, but after a few years and too many 20-hour road trips out west, we made the leap to running a business on the road full time in August 2016. It wasn’t easy, but we’ve grown our business to something beyond what we’d ever dreamed, focusing solely on the things that get us stoked in the places we can’t pull ourselves away from. In 2018 alone, we have shot 40 elopements in 8 states and 15 National Parks.

  • During my free time, you can find me rock climbing, solo skydiving, soaking in hot springs, exploring random dirt roads in Utah, or trolling google maps for places I want to go next

  • I am is the primary photographer for The Hearnes (although Cal teases me that he often gets the “hero shot”). I handle all client relations + planning, run our Instagram, maintain our blog + website, and edit every photo we deliver. If you’re wondering what Cal does other than climb sketchy towers for the hero shot; he manages our very complicated road life (seriously, it’s way harder than #vanlife makes it seem), does our accounting, and make sure I am well fed to avoid hanger.

  • Charlie is our unofficial mascot and most definitely gets in everyones photos...our clients love him, and we’ve made our brand so personal they’re disappointed when he doesn’t come…but we’ll talk more on that at the workshop!
