Glen Canyon and Lake Powell in Winter

While Glen Canyon and Lake Powell are in northern Arizona, it is at an elevation to 3,500ft (1,000m) above sea level and may have some snow on the ground in February. Winters are moderately cold with night time lows often below freezing, temperatures tend to range from 51°F (11°C) to 30°F (-1°C) in February. There is also always the possibility of inclement weather, and this may affect our schedule (especially our planned live shoots). In the case of bad weather (like a snowstorm, rain, flash flooding, or temperatures below freezing), it may be necessary for us to amend the schedule, change to a backup location near our lodging for the shoot, or even do an indoor shoot, or have a backup teaching session instead. This workshop is definitely for adventurers who are flexible and can go with the flow, and take whatever nature throws at us.

Food & Supplies

There are plenty of stores in nearby Page, AZ which is a 15-20 minute drive from the Lake Powell Resort at Wahweap Marina. will be provided with 6 meals as a part of your ticket price, but if you want extra snacks, beverages, etc, we recommend stocking up before heading through as the entrance station to the national recreation area can get busy at popular times of the day.

National Parks Pass

Make sure to bring your National Parks pass or money to pay the park entrance fee to get to our workshop. The Lake Powell Resort is inside the National Recreation Area, so you will go through an entrance gate before arriving. If you don’t already have a National Parks pass, view Glen Canyon’s fees here:

Abbi & Maddie highly recommend getting the America the Beautiful pass that gets you into all national parks & public lands for a whole year (and you can share it with someone too). It’s quite a deal.

Payment & Cancellation Policy

A minimum of $950 (50%) is due at sign-up to reserve your spot. The remainder of your payment is due no later than thirty (30) days prior to the first day of the workshop.  Failure to finalize your full payment within this schedule may result in the forfeit of your deposit and your spot in the workshop. Cancellation for any reason will result in a 100% loss of all monies paid unless you find someone else to take over your spot in the workshop—including medical, employment, or home emergencies. Should we, for unforeseen reasons, need to cancel a workshop, you will be refunded the full amount paid. However, we cannot be held liable for any fees you might incur for airline ticket cancellations, so please make sure to purchase travel insurance if you are flying to attend one of our workshops.
